The Qualification Race

To qualify as a questors and have a chance at splitting the 5 million reward granted to the first team to complete the quest, you must have participated in the Qualification Race and have been among one of the 20 first runners to have crossed the finish line.

The Race is somewhat modelled after the reality show called The Amazing Race. You are given a clue that will help you reach your next destination, where another clue will be given to you. Your knowledge of the geography, landmarks, past scenarios, hunting areas and your skills at solving puzzles will be great assets. But more importantly, your aptitude at following instructions and paying attention to what you read will make or break the race for you.

Unlike the Quest, this Race is an individual event. While you are free to team up with anyone you want through the race, the order in which you arrive at the finish line will be taken into account. So if you're with a friend and he crosses at the 20th rank, making you 21st, you will be eliminated from participating in the Quest. So if you are teamed up, know when to ditch your partner.

The general rules applying to the race:

  1. You must have access to the following facets: Trammel, Ilshenar and Felucca

  2. You are allowed to ask for external assistance from other players at any point in time

  3. You may switch character during the race if you deem it necessary or appropriate

  4. You must respect the TOS at all times as well as act in accordance with the rulesets of each facet

  5. All clues will be provided in game. Any tasks you may be asked to perform, any riddle or puzzle will have its solution within game or be related to a known notion of the game.

  6. You may participate to the race even if you do not intend to / cannot make the Quest

  7. Do not shoot the messenger. You are expected to treat the QMs (quest masters) with respect. If you do not have the correct answer and you must go back to find the appropriate answer, giving them hell will get you nowhere other than disqualified from the race.

  8. If you didn't make the first 20, there is still hope. Some of the contestants may not be able to make the quest on the following week-end. So even if you didn't make the first 20, cross the finish line nonetheless and your name will be written down in the order in which you arrived. If one of the questors cannot make it before the first day of the Quest has begun, he will be replaced by one of the people who didn't make the 20 but registered nonetheless.

THE REWARD

So why are you putting yourself through this race? Well aside from the fun of the event itself, the Race will provide you with a chance at 2 possible rewards. First, as stated above, you MUST complete the quest and be among the first 20 to cross the finish line to be able to compete as a questor for the 5 million reward. Second, if you also happen to have been one of the first tree to have completed the race, you will win:

1st Place: 1,000,000 gp
2nd Place: 500,000 gp
3rd Place: 250,000 gp

WHEN & WHERE?

The Race will be held on Sunday, December 7th, 2003 at 3:30 pm eastern. This is the time the Race will START at, which means if you intend to participate and have a chance to win, be there at 3:00pm eastern at the latest. The first clue will be given at 3:30 pm sharp. So if you missed it, the others will have a headstart on you.

The gathering for the first clue will be held at Nujelm Theater in Trammel. Come armored and regged up so you do not have to do this after the race has begun.
