DIALOGUES

The Pirate

Character profile:

Ruthless, greedy and powerhungry, this unsavory man will hesitate at nothing that could bring in a profit. His wealth is incomparable. Gold, jewels, rares. If it's worth a lot, he owns it. His men fear him. That is how he controls their loyalty. Most of them would stab him in the back at the first occasion, and he knows it. But he also knows that none of them would dare to because should they fail (and they likely would), the horror of retribution exacted on them would be unspeakable. Only once did one of his man dared to try to kill him. Severely wounded, he was rescued and his injuries mended by a gifted Alchemist. His greedy mind quickly realized the potential of having such a man on his side. First, he tried to entice the Alchemist into joining his ranks. When he refused, he threatened, then resorted to force, dragging him tied and unconscious into his lair. For many months, he tried to coherce the Alchemist into making explosion potions strong enough to sink an entire dragon ship, or bring down the walls of Britain Bank. He demanded potions that would force men to reveal secrets without the need to resort to torture; potions to make him invulnerable to harm. The Alchemist stubbornly refused to cooperate. Until the day he asked for a potion of invisibility. Greedy and powerful he was, indeed. Smart, not quite. The Alchemist accepted and created the very potion that would be the instrument of his escape.

Dialogue

Ye've got alot O' nerve showin yerself 'ere yee daft fools. Da' yee think yerself s'strong as tah survive an attack, most as likely tah be launched at yee soon? Whut 'as brought yee here? and pray it be ignorance an' not ego as brought yee to me 'umble 'ome. [let them ask about Marcus]

That dad-blasted son of a mongrel, curse 'es blood and 'es fam-ly's name. A friend of yers he be? Ya came tah finish whut 'e started? Er did 'e steal yer belongin's to? A quick death 'is too good fer the likes o' 'im. Id as like to 'ang eem by tha yard arm by 'is entrails and dance a merry jig to tha music 'o 'is screams. "E stole me map! Me precious map. Yers o' pillagin gone tah the winds. Riches beyond me wildest dreams, an b'lieve me bucko's, I've sum wild dreams in me old skull. Arr, but yee know where it is dont yee? Ya 'ave me treasure and yee've come tah gloat! I will make yee speak t'me!

[let them explain that they have not stolen your map but have brought it back to you]

Me MAP!!!!!!!! Tis she! One and tha same! Yee've brought it back t'me! When yee walked in 'ere, yer fate was sealed. Yee werent tah walk amongst tha livin e'er agin, but yee brought me mah most prized possession. So i'll spare yee. That cursed fool Marcus came 'ere lookin fer an Alchemist i'd held prisoner sum time ago. 'E paid me an 'andsom fee tah sniff around the caves where I 'ad 'eld 'im. I figured tah jest take 'es gold an kill 'im anyway, so's I figured lettin 'im look around a bit wouldnt 'urt none. 'E found some sea chart in the caves somehow or other an me men demanded 'e 'and it o'er but nay, 'e wouldn't. They tried tah take it by force but 'e ran off! We caught up w' 'im whilst 'e was a'tryng to escape through a trap door in tha back. We searched 'im and didnt find no charts nor maps, we searched 'igh and low and never found the dad-blasted thing. Im sure 'e 'id it afore we caught 'im.

Me men... Those stupid, useless currs let 'im escape too! I should run the lot through w' a rusty blade and watch em die slow and painful. 'E even managed tah somehow get into me office and grab some o' me charts and maps, and in lot 'e stole 'e 'ad me Treasure Map. 'E musta thought we 'ad found the map 'e hid, and wanted mine as bargainin chips  Never did find the blasted thing tho, I suspects it leads to tha Alchemist... Marcus and I.. we 'ave sum unfinished business we do.

I'm in yer debt, so yee are free tah look through me caves fer any clues in yer quest. I had the trap door torn down  after me stupid mates let 'im damn near escape through it. Theres s'posed to be another entrance in tha forest north o' 'ere. Mebbe yaa can find it. But be warned, me kindness and debt to yee ends 'ere. You've returned me map, so I let yee leave 'ere with yee lives. This island is filled with cutthroats and villains aplenty, and if yee choose to wander this 'ere place and those caves, yer on yer own. Be wary o' who yee trust and keep an eye over yer shoulders, lest someone stick a blade between em.

Be gone with yee now, me charity tis runnin dangerously thin.
