The Harrower

    Title:
    Evil

    Spawn Location:
    Random Felucca Dungeon

    Time to complete:
    30 mins to 1 hour

    Number of people required:
    On average, 10-15

    The Champion

From killing the Harrower, you will eventually earn one of the super champion title and a chance at a stats powerscroll. In order to get the Harrower to spawn, you will need to kill the first 6 champions (Baraccoon, Neira, Rikktor, Mephitis, Semidar & Lord Oaks).  Place each skull on its respective altar in the Star Room.  Once all 6 skulls have been sacrificed there, a black moongate will appear, which will take you to a random dungeon.

The Harrower will be lurking somewhere generally in the lower levels of the dungeon. So run around looking for him. There are two stages to the Harrower. In his first incarnation, he appears to be a black lich.  He can walk around freely and has approximately 39k HP. Once killed, he will rise again in his second form called the True Harrower.  He basically resembles a black Bog Thing and cannot move.  The minute the first harrower dies, many Tentacles of the Harrower will spawn all over the surrounding area at the same time as the True Harrower.  The tentacles will also drain your HP to restore their own (and the True Harrower's) if you're standing too close to them.  So as the HP of the first harrower drops below 2,000, starts moving away from his location so you do not get insta-killed when the tentacles spawn.

    Special Attacks/Tactics

Both forms of the harrower possess an identical special attack: whenever you hit them with a direct spell/arrow/pot or melee attack, there is a good chance that they will teleport you next to them and hit you for up to 181 HP. So unless you are wearing uber armor, if he manages to hit you, you are toast. You normally have a few seconds delay before he hits you once he's teleported you so RUN. If you are lucky enough to have earth elementals or other types of summons between you and him, then you may also be able to teleport out if you are boxed in. If he manages to kill you, your body explodes and there will be nothing left to loot. So make sure your armor is insured. I normally carry a spare bag of regs, bandaids and pots that I hide in the vicinity of the harrower spawn so that if I ever get dismembered I don't have to leave the dungeon to go restock. I normally also leave everything that cannot be insured in that bag such as my bag of sending. Wearing LRC suits is a good idea a tamer or mage since you normally shouldn't be in melee contact with him as long as you do not cast any direct spells at him. However considering Harrower spawns are usually heavily creashed, wearing weak armor usually means death to PKs. So a LRC resist suit would be your best bet.

    Tactics to Defeat

    The Harrower :

Avoid casting any direct spells at him or use arrows. DO NOT throw pots at him. Since he can naturally move, you want to get him boxed in asap so he can remain stationnary. Casting at him will make him move around running after the caster. Since he retargets a lot, if many mages cast on him, he will be running all over the place. And that's not to mention your risk of getting teleported and 1-hit killed. Once the harrower has been located, all mages summon as many earth elementals as your follower slots will allow and sic them on the harrower to box him in. Tamers, use your summoning crystal balls to get your pets. Dismount your mare. All tamers and mages, grab the HP bars of all the pets you can see.

Once you have them, all tamers sic your pets on the harrower. Look for the one pet sustaining damage and keep him healed. Mages assist the tamers in keeping the pets healed with Greater Heals while waiting for your follower slots to free so you can summon another earthy. If your pet cannot find a spot to attack the harrower (who is already surrounded) go stand next to the harrower and use your pet ball to get your pet right next to him and get him to attack again. Necromancers, sic revenants on the harrower. Paladins, use high lower defence and damage increase wep with consecrate weapon. Then attack the harrower. Mages and tamers should also make sure to have the paladin's bar in view to heal him if he starts taking damage.

If you got there late and are unable to target the Harrower because he's burried under too many pets, use the CTRL-SHIFT function to get his bar. Right click on the names you don't need to clear out the Harrower's name. This will spare you from unwittingly attacking one of the pets.

Keep your eyes peeled for any messages about the Harrower's HP. Once he drops below 2k HP (You need 110 animal lore to see his HP), start pulling your pets away, and paladins start moving away. Mages and necro also move out of range. Cast your summons from a distance, run in, sic them, and run right out so you don't get ganked by the tentacles. Make sure the Harrower is in the most open area before he dies to avoid the tentacles spawning under stairs or inside walls.

The Tentacles of the Harrower :

These guys do not move. They spawn as soon as the first harrower goes down and could drain up to 93 HP from you in one shot to replenish their own HP, though the average seems to be 24 HP. Since more than one of those spawn at once, if you are surrounded at the time they spawn, you will die within seconds. So make sure you have cleared the area before that happens.

The best way to defeat them is either using Tamers or paladins. DO NOT use summons on them as the tentacles will feed on them. Have a dexer mortal wound them so that they cannot heal themselves and have all mages make sure to keep the dexers healed. If the tentacles aren't too bunched up together, tamers can sic their pets on the tentacles but make sure you are all attacking the same one so it goes down quickly. The longer your pets are there, the more it will feed off them and heal itself. Rince and repeat until all tentacles are dead.

If the tentacle is stuck on a wall, have all mages cast fireball at it until it dies. Whatever you do, stay out of range of there life leech attack so you do not feed them more HP. If you are unable to reach the tentacle, page a GM to have the tentacle moved to a new location. In fact, as soon as the tentacles appear, you should go around to see if there are any of them stuck so that you can page a GM as soon as possible to avoid wasting time, so precious against crashers.

    The True Harrower :

This 2nd incarnation of the Harrower has also about 39K HP.  Once again he can teleport you next to him if you direct cast at him, but he does it a lot less often than the first form especially because he doesn't retarget as often. Just be careful. The method to kill him is identical as the first form except this time, on top of earth eles, mages should cast as many direct spells as possible. Tamers sic your pets on him and once again, all tamers keep the one pet taking damage healed. Paladins melee him all you can. This is where alchemists shine. Throw as many pots as you can as fast as you can. Wear any potion enhancement jewelry/weapons you have. Paladin archers can now also get busy.
